Graeme Wallis receives Queens Birthday 2019 honour

Graeme Wallis has been awarded Member (AM) in the General Division for his significant service to the mining sector as announced by the Governor General.

This is a great recognition to Graeme for his long-term and continuing commitment to improve the drilling industry for all employees together with the safety, quality and innovation of the services provided by the industry.

The honour adds to his long list of awards and achievements that Graeme has received or been associated with:

  • Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Western Region – Technology
  • Business person of the year – Swan Business Award – 2013
  • Life Membership – Australian Drilling Industry Association (ADIA)
  • Life Membership – Mineral Drilling Association of Australia (MDAA)
  • Rio Tinto Safety Innovation Award – 2012
  • Rio Tinto Finalist – Excellence in provision of services – 2011 & 2012
  • Apprentice/Training of the Year – Swan Chamber of Commerce – 2012, 2013 & 2014
  • Contribution to Exports – Swan Chamber of Commerce 2011, 2012 & 2014
  • Walk of Fame – Swan Chamber of Commerce – 2014

Through Graeme’s influence with the MDAA, ADIA and EMICoL, he has instigated or assisted in developing several innovative initiatives that benefit the engineering trades and drilling sector

  • The formation of an industry Registered Training Organisation (DrillSkill)
  • The formation of an engineering co-operative (EMICoL)
  • The development of an engineering trade work experience program (LEAPS)
  • Implementing a training and assessment system that provided existing workers and new employees with a nationally recognised qualification to Certificate II, III and IV in drilling.
